Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities

What We're Looking For:

Iridium is seeking a motivated and talented JIRA Administrator III to join our Operations Team for a Space Development Agency (SDA) project. As a JIRA Administrator III, you'll independently deliver high-quality work and drive projects and deliverables to completion in a 24-hour, multi-satellite operations environment for the Operations Center in Grand Forks, ND. In this role, you will focus primarily on management of the Atlassian tool suite to support the overall effort of teams assigned. This position requires an active/current Secret Security Clearance and the ability to obtain a Top Secret Security Clearance (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

What You'll Do:

    Be responsible for providing configuration and administrative support of the self-hosted (Linux server) Atlassian tool suite, including multiple Jira instances, Confluence, Bamboo, Bitbucket, Crucible/Fisheye, and User Story Maps
  • Create and copy projects and/or convert existing projects from other tools (ex: ALM Complete, SharePoint, etc.) to Jira
  • Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of custom workflows, screens, dashboards, fields, permission schemes, post functions, etc., to serve as templates for Agile teams across the company
  • Create and build filters, custom dashboards, and reports
  • Work independently to coordinate and respond to support requests
  • Be accountable for managing and updating software and licenses
  • Proactively install, configure, test, and manage add-ons, plug-ins, and extensions
  • Pay a role in troubleshooting and fixing errors common to Jira applications and application servers
  • Be responsible for managing user accounts, groups, and permissions schemes to projects
  • Research and implement Atlassian best practices
  • Actively develop and improve your Jira skill set by keeping aware of Jira industry trends, tools, and techniques
  • Occasionally conduct Jira/Confluence training, as well as training on navigating our projects and spaces
  • Collaborate and communicate with IT staff to coordinate infrastructure maintenance
Experience & Education Requirements / EEO

What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline, OR equivalent relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • 5+ years of experience working in the Information Technology field
  • Previous experience with application administration, including basic configuration activities and end-user management
  • Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies and tools (i.e., Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of networking, DNS, databases, APIs, and Exchange/Active Directory
  • Knowledge of Jira administration activities, including configuration, maintenance, upgrades, and enhancements
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to confidently present products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues
  • Possess an analytical mindset, with the ability to understand a situation or problem and think critically to make decisions or come up with solutions
  • Be comfortable managing upward, including being a proactive communicator and asking for help when needed
  • Have confidence and be able to establish valuable relationships with others
  • Must be able to prioritize key tasks and have a strong sense of ownership over your work
  • Be active in seeking out ways to continuously improve yourself and gain new knowledge

Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:

  • Previous experience in DoD (Department of Defense) Operations
  • Proven successful experience as a JIRA and/or Confluence administrator
  • Atlassian certified Jira Administrator

We'll also need you to:

  • Provide on-call support as needed
  • Be a U.S. Citizen

Work Environment:

This position exclusively works in the operations center. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer. The role uses basic office equipment including a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse and printer. For meetings in person, this position will need to be able stand, walk within the office and climb stairs on occasion.
