Job Description Summary

The Sr. Customer Business Manager, Walmart Inc., will be responsible for achieving key company objectives including sales, volume, market share and profit. The position will involve the day-to-day management of both Walmart and Sam's Club businesses in Deli and Dairy. This position will have a high degree of autonomy and accountability for the development of the customer. The Sr. Customer Business Manager has responsibility to achieve our volume and net sales targets, and stay within the Trade Spending Guidelines. Responsibility includes cross-functional communication with Bel Team to create robust customer plans, collaborating with Sr. Business Development Analyst to manage orders, forecasting, and D&D expense controls. The Sr. Customer Business Manager will provide key information to the Director of Sales, Walmart Inc as well as senior management to ensure short-term objectives are met.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Deliver assigned volume, Net Sales $ and trade spend targets for the Walmart Inc. business
  • Assist Director of Sales, Walmart Inc. in developing strategic Walmart Inc. go-to-market approach for both in-stores and online
  • Lead key sales calls with Walmart and Sam's Club merchants; both Deli and Dairy departments - Sam's Club 2 Merchants, Walmart 4 Merchants
  • Lead key sales calls with Walmart and Sam's Club Media teams
  • Directly manage Walmart Inc's online portfolio via Item 360 and MADRID
  • Establish and Develop relationship with Walmart Inc. Merchants
  • Assist Director of Sales, Walmart Inc. in facilitating CSR partnership between Bel and Walmart Inc to deliver on Bel & Walmart Inc sustainability goals
  • Lead coordination of in-store activities between the Walmart Inc. team and broker partner retail team
  • Increase Bel Brands visibility and in-store/online presence of BBY, TLC, Boursin, Nurishh, Local Brands
  • Collaborate with Sr. Business Development analyst and Demand Team on forecasting and business planning
  • Analyze weekly volume and trade spending data to identify trends and solutions to gaps
  • Communicate status of business thru Scorecard development, one pager trackers
  • Manage, interpret and communicate Retail Link data on velocity, POS sales, trend analysis of business

Qualifications and Competencies

Minimum degree and experience required:

  • Bachelor degree and/or equivalent experience required; MBA preferred
  • Must have a minimum of five years successful food sales experience, preferably involving broker sales management and supervision
  • Solid working knowledge and experience working with Walmart Inc preferred
  • Proven ability to execute an effective marketing & sales strategy; can analyze the competitive landscape, define a course of action and meet the needs of the customer
  • Ability to forecast and communicate volume and spending information

Specific competencies required:

  • Intermediate computer skills; knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint required, along with the ability to understand/analyze syndicated data
  • Persuasive and influential sales communication skills; understands audience and adjusts communication to drive desired results
  • Should be a highly motivated and organized self-starter who strives for excellence and thrives in an independent work environment; should also possess strong planning skills and be disciplined in time management
  • Must be a solid strategic thinker who can decisively prioritize competing demands and assess multiple outcomes with limited information
  • Should have business maturity, impeccable personal integrity and be committed to ongoing individual professional development
  • Must have excellent attention to detail and communication skills
  • Language skills: proficient in written and spoken English required

Performance Expectations: Confidentiality, quality, accuracy, timeliness, reliability, and thoroughness of work performed; ability to gain the trust and respect of management, coworkers; maintain the integrity of confidential business and product information; ability to communicate effectively and develop good working relationships with other employees is essential to accomplish goals and objectives of the Sales Department.

Working Conditions: Work is performed largely in a field environment. Hours of work will generally be during regular business hours with at least 40 hours a week. At times there will be some variation in work hours due to, special projects, deadlines and other concerns and the regional manager must be willing to put in the extra time & efforts to manage expectations. Up to 60% business travel is required, with a minimum of nine (5) days per month working retail.
