Job Description

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
* Develops, leads, manages and motivates staff.
* Ensures accurate and timely preparation and filing of federal, state and local tax returns as well as all other areas of tax compliance in adherence with applicable tax laws.
* Develops policy, governance, and standards.
* Administers budget.
* Participates in strategy and business plan development.
* Monitors staff performance, works with Human Resources on issues, works with employees to implement goals and document progress .
* Maintains current knowledge of tax laws, updates and revisions and informs senior management of issues affecting FIS.
* Reviews proposals for tax implications and recommends actions that meet business plans while managing tax liability.
* Anticipates potential tax filing conflicts and resolves before returns are filed, i.e., acquisitions, fixed purchase option leases, etc.
* Manages schedules and performance standards within area managed.
* Other related duties assigned as needed.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience. Remain knowledgeable on current tax regulations.

* Strong knowledge of federal, state and local income, use and sales tax concepts, practices and procedures for multiple entities in multiple jurisdictions

FIS JOB LEVEL DESCRIPTION
Senior management role. Manages, perhaps through subordinate managers/supervisors, activities of 2 or more areas of expertise within the department with responsibility for results, including costs, methods and staffing. Establishes operational objectives and work plans and delegates assignments to subordinates. Objectives are reviewed by senior management to determine success of operation. This role is involved in developing, modifying and executing company policies that affect immediate operations. Works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of organization objectives, implements strategic policies when selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results, and establishes and ensures adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements. Handles all employee-related issues, i.e., annual and interim reviews, goal setting and merit increases, etc. and in the event of any employee-related performance issues, escalates and works with Human Resources to determine and develop corrective action plans. Regularly interacts with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning several functional areas and/or customers. Requires the ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance from others in sensitive situations without damage to the relationship. This level requires the ability to communicate with all levels of management. Typically requires eight to ten years tax management experience.
