YOUR ROLE: As Prep Cook/Cashier, you are a vital part of our culinary operations. You provide a positive customer experience by being awesome at getting along with people in a fun and fast-paced environment. You help with some basic prep work utilizing seasonally and locally available items, many of which are grown in our onsite garden. You bring your diverse viewpoint to the team so we can respectfully celebrate different cultures and cuisines and offer a variety of options for staff and guests. You share your skills with other kitchen staff, and you enjoy learning from your teammates, as well.

YOUR EXPERIENCE: You have worked in hospitality for at least 3 years, maybe in catering, maybe in a back or front of house role in a restaurant. You like to work in an environment where food and hospitality are valued, and you understand how presentation and high-quality service are essential to a good customer experience. You live for details and are good at thinking on your feet. You are willing to jump in wherever you can be helpful and thrive in a role where every day is different than the last. You enjoy working as part of a team but are also comfortable flying solo.

JOB OBJECTIVE: Provide customer service at the BTC cafe and assist with prep work in the kitchen while maintaining quality food, presentation, and cleanliness within the framework of Promega Corporation policies and procedures.


CORE DUTIES:


1. Maintain constant quality control while handling and preparing food according to Promega Culinary standards and recipes and comply with all Federal and local health department regulations.


2. Adhere to all cash handling policies and procedures. Reconcile the cash drawer at the end of every shift.


3. Assist cooks with food prep in the mornings, prepare the front of house for lunch service, and run the cash register sales at lunch.


4. Responsible for using POS effectively to place orders, problem-solving and guest satisfaction.


5. Work to cover for staff outages at other registers and cafes on campus.


6. Work corporate events in evenings occasionally.


7. Demonstrates inclusion through their own words and actions and is accountable for a safe workspace. Acts with kindness, curiosity and respect for others.


8. Embracing and being open to incorporating Promega's 6 Emotional & Social Intelligence (ESI) core principles in daily work.

9. Understands and complies with ethical, legal and regulatory requirements applicable to our business.


KEY QUALIFICATIONS:


1. High School diploma or proven work experience that ensures you are ready to be successful in this role.


2. Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with guests and team members effectively.


3. Time management, problem-solving.


4. Strong numerical aptitude.


5. Good reading and comprehension skills.


6. Good hand dexterity to operate restaurant machinery, knife skills.


7. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.


8. Maintain appearance according to Promega and professional standards.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


1. Working knowledge of local, seasonal foods.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


1. Ability to stand for extended periods of time.


2. Ability to move efficiently between buildings on our campus.


3. Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.


4. Ability to drive on behalf of the organization and hold a valid driver's license.
